Innate Memories

Innate Memories


All characters, though lacking in memories of themselves and their past experiences in Pearl, have innate memories that should serve to stave off much confusion, alarm, or need for repetitive instructions. They all inherently grasp the mechanics of the world, and they don't know of any other worlds. So essentially it's normal to be part of a house that is generally involved in hostilities with other houses. Of course everyone hungers for something different, but nothing is weird about drinking blood or feeding off of lying to others. Etc etc. The character may still hate the world they are in, as it is an awful place! But there shouldn't be a sense that this isn't the world they are used to.

Innate KnowledgeNOT Innate Knowledge
  • The basic workings of the world. NOTHING about what is going on is 'weird' or 'unexpected' (at least to start)
  • The Mother of Pearl is the creator of the world, and the one who each year judges one family as worthy of entering Paradise
  • Family is THE MOST IMPORTANT and their only hope of entering paradise
  • The name of their House and other Houses
  • Their role within the house
  • The abilities granted by their role/how to unlock those abilities
  • The role of the Prime
  • What they hunger for, what other people CAN hunger for
  • When the weather changes there is a new Season and all that implies
  • The Church has information on the Season, and is the only house that speaks to the Mother
  • It is against the role of all denizens of Pearl to freely give things away to other houses, or to make trades that hasn't been arranged by a Governess.
  • The location of your home and where your family's resources can be found
  • The roles of others (even family members)
  • What other roles exist (other than Prime)/how many there are/what their abilities or requirements are
  • Which of the four hungers any given person has
  • Stuff about other Houses not expressly provided as innate memories (i.e., what they have to trade, where their base is located, etc)


This is information that applies to ALL characters. You will also be getting additional innate knowledge that pertains to your house and your character upon acceptance of your application.

Important Note: Please remember that lying is a large part of the game and do your best to avoid info modding!
